- Sad day for the Patriots yesterday. It is still hard to believe. Hill seemed like a good guy. Didn't see him play much as he was inactive a lot but still a sad story.

- The Sox seem to be rolling. Youk has been on fire, the pitching has been good, the Yankees were swept and I think there was even a JD Drew sighting this weekend. All in all a great weekend for Sox fans.

- Nice ovation for Trot Nixon last night. It was well deserved. But with that said it was still time for him to move on. Trot just couldn't seem to stay healthy.

- Nice to see the weather take a turn for the better this weekend. I think it is fair to say the summer is here.

- It stinks that there is nothing on TV right now. All of the good shows are over for the summer and the new summer shows haven't begun yet. Thank Goodness the Sox are winning as they are all that is on TV and it is easier to watch them when they are winning.

- Say what you want about me, but I am still not counting out the Yankees. I know things are bad down in the Bronx right now but until the Yanks are eliminated, I still am going to worry about them.

- I think I am still in denial over the Celtics. I still can't believe it.

- I don't know the name of the guy who one the Indy 500, but I know he is a lucky man. Not only did he win the Indy 500 this week but, more importantly, he is married to Ashley Judd.

- First time at the beach all year and I already got a sun burn. When will I learn?

- I think it is crazy that both ESPN and ESPNEWS carried every pitch of Roger Clemens' third minor league start yesterday. What a joke.

- I think I need to go for a walk now.

- I think it still makes me sick to think about the results of the draft lottery this week. I don't know what they Celtics are going to do but they better do something.

- I think as much as I want them to be, the Yanks are not done yet. It is only May and there is a long way to go.

- I think there is no way that Clemens pitches is Fenway next week. My guess is he pitches for the first time the week after.

- I think Lost was a very good this week. The only thing that stinks is we have to wait until next February to see what happens.

- For any golfers out there, I just finished a really good book (as always, click the title will bring you straight to Amazon). It is by famed sports writer John Feinstein. It is called "Tales from Q School". Really good read. Feinstein has written a lot of great sports books including "A Good Walk Spoiled",  "Next Man Up" and my favorite "Let me Tell you a Story". That was sort of a biography of Red Auerbach and is a must read for any remaining Celtics fans out there.

- Next up on the schedule is going to be "The Last Night of the Yankee Dynasty" by Buster Olney. I am hoping it will be fun to read about the Yankees demise.

- Does anyone have any good summer reading suggestions for me?

- I can't believe Sopranos is almost over for good. What is HBO going to do?

- If you are looking for a good show to watch in the summer check out "Hell's Kitchen". It is a pretty funny gramsay.jpgreality show.

- I think the Celtics need to get lucky is the draft and pick some one who ends up being and All-Star player. I don't know who it will be but, they better be a stud.

- I am starting to worry about JD Drew. He has done nothing so far this year and he needs to turn it on quickly. Lowell and Youk and sort of carrying him right now but the Sox need Drew to produce.

capecod_landsat_wshadow.jpg- I think summer might finally be here, one tell tale sign is the Bostonsportz.com CEO, has moved the office to the Cape branch, so you know summer must be here.

- With the weather getting nicer, I am glad that I work in Boston. The scenery around here can be amazing in the summer.

- I can't believe the NHL Playoffs are still going on. Is anyone watching this?

- I think the Spurs are going to roll to the NBA Championship. I don't see any team remaining being able to beat them.

- I think I need to go grab some lunch.

Tomorrow night is UFC 71 on PPV. It could be the best one yet as the biggest name in MMA Chuck "The Iceman" Liddell coming off a cameo on the HBO series “Entourage.”  will take on Quinton “Rampage” Jackson who has been tabbed as the fighter with the best chance to end Liddell’s dominance. He handed Liddell his only loss in the past four years — a TKO on Nov. 11, 2003.

Here's a video of Chuck "The Iceman" Liddell

Here's a video of Quinton “Rampage” Jackson

Let's just hope Chuck isn't comatose like in this interview for the fight or he'll die. WOW!

Here's their last fight where Rampage won.

“Through the Looking Glass” Season 3 Finale of Lost

Posted on Thursday, May 24, 2007 at 09:58PM by Registered CommenterN. Reynolds in , | Comments10 Comments | References1 Reference | EmailEmail | PrintPrint

The producers of Lost are amazing! This episode was hands down the best this season and to be honest, quite possibly the best Lost episode ever! I have to admit; I didn’t get to watch this live. As a result I could not partake in my office weekly debriefing. I will add any questions or comments that my coworkers might have after I process with them tomorrow. Where would I be with my trusty DVR? For now I will try to summarize this work of art.

Jacks Flashforward

Today we get a glimpse of Jack’s life after he is rescued from the island. It’s the first episode that a flashback is really a flash forward (sneaky producers you caught me off guard). The show opens and we see a scraggly looking Jack is sitting on a plane. He asks a stewardess for a drink and instead is given a lostfinaljack.jpgnewspaper. He rips out an article. He is then seen driving his car over a bridge, while looking at this article. He pulls over, gets out of his car and climbs up on the ledge, contemplating suicide. Very soon after we hear a woman scream and then a crash. Jack climbs down from the ledge and saves a woman and her 8 year old son.

While at the hospital receiving stitches, Sara enters Jack’s hospital room. Sara is extremely pregnant and tells Jack that she is still his emergency contact. Sara asks Jack if he has been drinking and asks why he was out driving at 2am. Jack denies he had been drinking and Sara leaves. The next day at the hospital Jack checks on the woman he saved and swallows some oxycodone pills. The new chief surgeon enters the room and Jack tells him he would like to perform surgery. The surgeon refuses and tells Jack he should go home and rest. Some point after Jack is seen driving erratically. He pulls over, crosses a street without looking and enters a funeral home. The funeral director walks in the room where Jack is standing and asks if Jack would like him to open the casket. Jack declines and is told that no one came to the viewing. Later we see Jack at a pharmacy trying to fill a false prescription. When he is denied he returns to the hospital and steals several oxycodone pills from a locked medicine cabinet. Jack is about to leave when the chief of surgeon asks Jack what he was doing. Jack says he was trying to find out about the woman he saved. The surgeon tells Jack that her surgery went well and when she woke up she recounted what happened. Jack is told that this woman was driving along and was distracted seeing Jack on the bridge ledge. She crashed because of the distraction. The surgeon asks Jack if he is intoxicated. Jack says he is not and that his father is probably drunker than he is. Soon after Jack is seen at his apartment. There are empty liquor bottles all around and it is rather cluttered. Jack calls someone, who we later find out is Kate, and asks her to meet him at the airport. They meet up and Jack tells Kate that he uses his oceanic “golden pass” hoping that one of these days the plane will crash and that he will return to the island. He is visibly upset and tells Kate that they weren’t supposed to leave the island. The episode ends with Jack yelling to Kate “we have to go back”.

On Island

The losties head out from camp as planned leaving Sayid, Jin and Bernard behind to blow up the tents when the others arrive for Sun and the other pregnant women. When the others arrive Bernard and Sayid manage to blow up two of the tents. Unfortunately Jin miscalculates and as a result three others (Tom, Ryan and another guy) live and manage to take Sayid, Jin and Bernard hostage. On another part of the island Ben is in his tent when he receives a call on his walkie talkie from Greta and Bonnie of the looking glass station. They tell him that Charlie is in the station and that Juliet has turned on them. Ben orders Mikhal to the station to help clean up the mess he has made. He also hears from Tom that the losties attempted to kill them and were successful at taking out several of their people. Ben decides to attempt to convince Jack why they need to stay on the island. Alex asks to go and surprisingly, he agrees.

Back at the Dharma grave Locke wakes up. He tries to move his legs but they are paralyzed. Recognizing defeat, and seeing a gun close by Locke decides to take his life. Just as he is about to pull the trigger Locke hears voices. He looks up and finds Walt looking down at him. Locke tells Walt he is paralyzed but Walt tells him his legs work fine and that he still has work to do. Walt tells Locke to stand up.

As Jack and the other losties continue on their journey Sawyer decides to return to the beach worried that their plan didn’t work (they only heard 2 explosions not 3). Juliet and Sawyer take off together to try and save their friends. Hurley ends up saving the day by running his Dharma van over two of the others. Sawyer shoots Tom and our friends are again safe! The losties eventually cross paths with Ben and Alex. Ben asks to speak with Jack alone. He agrees and is told that Naomi isn’t who she says she is. Ben asks Jack to give lostfinalfight.jpghim Naomi’s phone or else Jack will be setting up his friends for death. Ben calls Tom over his walkie talkie and orders Tom to kill Sayid, Jin and Bernard if in a minute he doesn’t call back. Ben gives Jack a minute to get the phone but he doesn’t. Soon after we hear three gunshots through the walkie, making us assume that our three heroes are now dead. Jack beats the crap out of Ben but does not kill him. Soon after Hurley makes radio contact with whom he assumes is the others but instead gets Jack on the other end. Hurley tells Jack that they are all safe and that they will stay at the beach until further notice. The losties tie Ben up and drag him to the radio tower. Danielle turns off her distress signal and Naomi finally gets a signal on her phone. Just as she is about to use the phone Locke kills her. The phone finally works and Jack makes contact with someone off shore. They tell Jack that they are on their way to save them.

During all this Desmond wakes up in the canoe being shot at by Mikhal. He looks down into the water, dives in and manages to get to the looking glass station where Charlie is being held. Charlie tells Desmond that he is not alone and to hide. Eventually Mikhal makes his way down to the station and is ordered by Ben to kill Charlie, Greta and Bonnie. Mikhal shoots Greta and hits but doesn’t kill Bonnie. Just as he is about to shoot Bonnie again Desmond shows up and shoots a spear through Mikhal (go Rambo!). He is about to shoot Bonnie but Charlie tells him they need her because she has the code to turn off the machine. Bonnie discloses that the code is the song “good vibrations” from the Beach boys. Charlie enters the room to enter the code and Penelope shows up on the television screen. Charlie tells her that Naomi is there and that they are all going to be saved. Penny tells Charlie she has no idea who Naomi is. Just then Charlie looks out the lostfinaldrow.jpgwindow and see’s Mikhal looking back holding a grenade. Charlie quickly closes the door and Mikhal sets off the grenade. The window explodes open and Charlie writes a note on his hand that says “Not Penny’s Boat” and shows this note to Desmond through the window. Charlie then, as in Desmond’s premonition, drowns. And I cry :*(

Questions and Comments

- Who’s funeral was Jack attending? Do you think it was someone on the island?

- The funeral parlor name is Hoffs/Drawler, which is an anagram for flash forward

- Is Jack’s father alive?

- After being saved Jack turns into a person not unlike his father, a drunk and addict.

- What has happened to Jack since leaving the island? Why does he feel it was such a mistake to leave the island?

- Did you notice Kate was driving a Volvo in the flash forward? Who is she with after being rescued. Is it Sawyer? How did she escape being arrested for killing her step father?

- Who else was rescued? All the flight 815 survivors?

- Anyone understand what the voices (Walt?) said to Locke just before he was about to shoot himself?

- Jack and Locke both contemplate suicide in this episode.

- Alex finally gets to meet her mother, Danielle. They really do look so much alike.

- Why was the song “good vibrations” chosen as the code for the looking glass station? Did Charlie know the person who set the code? Any relevance?

- How did Mikhal lose his eye? I couldn’t wait for him to put his patch back on, gross!

- Mikhal is like a cat, he has 9 lives. No matter what he can’t seem to be killed! Why is that?

- Who is Naomi really working for?

- Is Kate pregnant?

February 2008 is much too far away for my liking. Have a nice summer, and fall AND winter… see ya next year!

24 the Finale

Posted on Thursday, May 24, 2007 at 09:14PM by Registered CommenterTina Ryan in | CommentsPost a Comment | EmailEmail | PrintPrint

Well this season has got to be the worst season ever and the finale did nothing to help it out.  Well here's a recap of the last two hours;  It starts out with Josh in the helicopter with Doyle headed to drop him off with Phillip for an exchange with the circuit board.  Jack is trying to get anyone to listen to him to warn him against dealing with the father.  He gets a hold of Karen Buchanon who then gets permission from Lennox to go over the v-p's head and enlists her husband Bill (who was just fired by her) to help Jack!  Are you still with me on that trail of people!!!  In the end Jack (of course) was right and there is no circuit board and Doyle gets blown up in his face.  They get Josh and go to a oil rigger while waiting for the submarine to pick them up to go to China.  In the meantime the president has given an order to blow up the oil rigger so that the circuit board and all who are on it will be gone.  Russia is satisfied with that plan and are linked up in real time to make sure it happens.  Jack and Bill steal a helicopter and plan to save Josh before the air strike hits.  When they arrive Josh has just shot his grandfather but Jack doesn't let him kill him.  Knowing the air strike is on its way Jack leaves his father to die but gets Chang and Josh on the helicopter.  Jack leaps at the very last second and catches the rope ladder and rides home that way till the end when he jumps off to be left alone in the ocean.  Karen Bucannon was arrested for her involvement in getting Jack out of custody but was later rescinded with the help of Lennox coercing the v-p to let both Buchanon's retire.  Lennox gave up his blackmail tape that he was holding over the v-p's head.  Back at CTU, Chloe wasn't feeling well and passed out, low and behold she is preggers with Morris's baby!!

The episode ends with Jack breaking into Audrey's fathers home, and basically telling her in her catatonic state he is at a crossroad and can't be with her anymore.  Jack goes out and stands with his gun in his hand looking at the ocean pondering life.  Tick Tick Tick....

It just has to get better next season or is this it?  Has it been played out to long?  All good things must come to an end right?  Problems I had were they never got the circuit board back, who knows if Philip is really dead could he have possibly got on that sub?  Chloe pregnant was a stretch!  Where will they go with that they both work all day long!!  Saying goodbye to Audrey was also weak, she deserved better than that.  Will Doyle be back now that he is potentially blinded?

Well lots of questions and a long way to go for answers.  Here's to hoping the next day has more impact.  See you in January tick tick tick.........

Jordin Wins!

Well, Idol went out with a bang (a lonnnnng bang) last night with lots of great performances. Jordin came away the winner, deservingly so. She seemed to get better and better each week and has star quality. I think she's going to be a big star.

Although Jordin won, the performance of the night was by Blake and the original king of beat boxing Doug E Fresh (video below) doing "the show". It's amazing what they can do with their voices. When asked about it, Blake said:

"That was Doug E. allowing me to hang out with him onstage, and that was an honor. Forever etched in my brain. It was one of the hottest times I will ever have onstage. It was just a dream come true. Hopefully I'll get to get him in the studio, and we'll have to do, like, a beatbox track, you know? Get something really down.:

It's been exactly 24 hours since last night's absoulute disaster. For those of you wondering, this is how I felt last night at 8:53 p.m. (video is NSFWOC)

That's all I really can say about the whole thing. I hope to bounce back tomorrow with some thoughtZ on freakin dirty A-rod and some Pats NewZ. Damn!

The Helix - Finale

Meaningless Heroes Trivia of the Week: When Ando is hyping up Hiro for his main event showdown with Sylar, he mentions a few heroes of old that they dreamed about being as children. He says Star Wars, Star Trek, and Kensai, which as far as I know, is not a TV show or movie, but is a Japanese term meaning “sword saint.” Kensai is an honorary title given to warriors known to have legendary skill in swordsmanship. Hiro's future self had a sword that was once owned by Takezo Kensai. According to the story George Takei tells his son, Takezo Kensai had great powers beyond his control until he found this sword sheathed in a block of ice. Great powers he couldn't control, eh? Sounds like our boy. Maybe that trivia wasn't so meaningless.

This week, everything came to a head and all roads lead to Kirby Plaza, NYC (a location conveniently given away by Sylar on his painting. Had he only destroyed that thing, Peter wouldn't have been able to find him and Sylar might have won it all. Didn't I once write something about good guys being dumb?) It pretty much went down the way we all thought it would, which I suppose is a danger when you have characters who can time travel and paint the future. The one hook at the very end was the sacrifice of the brothers Petrelli (and yet the unfortunate survival of their mother, Darth Mom.) I'll get to that in a moment, but first I need to point out my surprise that all of the dead characters stayed dead, with the odd exception of the great Richard Roundtree, who came back in that weird dream sequence. It was cool because we got to see Richard, but still, it was rather pointless. Isaac Mendez seemed like he would have been a good guy to keep around, because he could make eerie, dire predictions and make everybody scared, but also, he was scalped. Meanwhile, DL is a pretty useless character, with all his, “You got to be strong” crap all the time, yet he apparently lived. As did his annoying son. However, as the next season (or volume or whatever) is titled “Generations,” I guess we should have known that most of those younger characters would live to carry on the tradition of being weird and annoying.

Now, onto my big rant. The entire season came down to the one big moment with Peter the Exploding Man. He looked like he was about to blow, and Claire was about to do her duty and shoot him, thus saving the entire city. Then Nathan shows up, and decides that Claire shouldn't have to do a nasty thing like that, and flies Peter away himself so that he can explode harmlessly in the atmosphere (Well, Peter and Nathan were harmed quite a bit, but you know what I mean.) Apparently, in all the confusion, everyone forgot that PETER CAN FLY, TOO! That was the first power he ever took from anyone else. The first couple episodes were about how he thought he could fly and everyone else thought he was nutters. And as it happened, it was Nathan who could fly and Peter's gift was stealing the powers of anyone he came in contact with, including Ted Sprague, the original exploding guy, which is what got us into this mess in the first place. So, why did Nathan have to make the ultimate sacrifice? Why didn't Peter just fly away himself? Not to mention the fact that Peter also had Claire's fast-healing, so if he did fly away and blow up on some desert island, wouldn't he just have been able to heal himself and come back like nothing happened, or does it not work that way? I mean, what was the point of that guy from Dr. Who teaching him to use all these powers if he forgets he has them? Seriously, when the entire season comes down to one moment, and that moment falls into a giant plothole, then it kind of taints everything that came before it.

Ahhh, onto What Have We Learned this Week?

  • Series Creator Tim Kring watched a lot of Star Wars when he was a tot. All that stuff with Hiro and his father was taken right out of Empire Strikes Back, when Luke wanted to run and save his friends even though Yoda warned him that it would lead to trouble. And then there was the whole Nathan/Darth Mom bit, again, right out of Return of the Jedi. Well, if it works, right?

  • That Sylar is one tough dude (and one bad actor). He was beat up pretty good by Peter and Jess-iki, then stabbed through the chest by Hiro, yet somehow managed to crawl away and escape into the New York sewer, where the smell may or may not have killed him.

  • Mr. Bennett's name is actually Noah. Uh, yeah, Noah. I might just stick with calling him Mr. Bennett.

Heroes: Volume 1 may be in the books, but you haven't heard the last of me. I'll be back for a season retrospective and probably get my Hero on once in awhile during the summer when something newsworthy comes along. I'll be attending San Diego Comicon in July, so I'm betting there will be some cast members there and I'll do some reporting from there. Until then,... Yatta!Heroes_s01e02.jpg

The Sad Truth

Posted on Tuesday, May 22, 2007 at 10:07PM by Registered CommenterGreg Fraser in | CommentsPost a Comment | References1 Reference | EmailEmail | PrintPrint

Well, this was the worst possible result for the C's. 12.4% for the 5th pick, and it happened. This bumped Memphis, Boston, and the Bucks to 4, 5, 6. The majority of Celtic Nation is devastated, and perhaps I am to blame.

Many people are superstitious, so I made sure to bring my Celtics flag downstairs in preparation for the lottery results. I held my laptop and a Coke Classic in my right hand, blanket in the left hand, and put the flag in my right bathrobe pocket. As I made my journey downstairs, the flag became top heavy, and fell on the ground. I had a bad feeling, even mentioning the bad luck before the results were revealed. Sure enough, within 2 minutes of me dropping the Celtics flag, the Celtics got handed a death sentence, the 5th pick. I found a neat little Youtube video, that was made the day before the lottery by...you guessed it...Jailblazers fans!

The worst possibility happened, and rather than dwelling on David Stern conspiracies, I have decided to take a few brief moments to look at the C's options:

Option #1 Look over our available draft picks. Now, I like Yi Jianlian, but if you don't even know the guy's age, you probably need to get a better scout. Another guy mentioned around Celtic Nation is Jeff Green, SF, out of Georgetown. I was somewhat amused, if the Celtics drafted a 3rd player with the last name being "Green". (Although technically, Orien's name was spelled, "Greene") What about Al Horford, PF, out of Florida? There are still many options in the draft, though I will admit, it won't be the same without Oden or Durant.

Option #2, package a player or players with the number 5 pick. We can still get Oden and Durant, though it will be at a higher cost. Throw in Wally or Green, and perhaps we can get a deal done. Let's make a deal! Danny has expressed interest in trading the #5 pick, so keep the faith Celtic fans, we still have a chance at Oden or Durant. Although we will have to pay a price to get them now...

Countdown To The Celtics Future

Posted on Tuesday, May 22, 2007 at 02:44PM by Registered CommenterScott (CEO) in | CommentsPost a Comment | EmailEmail | PrintPrint

Have your Green on and your good luck charms ready because we deserve it. Bill Simmons tells us why.

Name me a team that suffered more trauma since the mid-'80s: Lenny Bias and Reggie Lewis, the demolition of the Boston Garden, the M.L. Carr era, the Duncan lottery, the Pitino era, the Paul Pierce stabbing, the Vin Baker trade, Red Auerbach's death, Doc Rivers' second life. ... After 16 titles in 30 years, it's been a preposterously brutal stretch of bad luck.

So tune in tonight at 8:30 on ESPN to see our fate.

Moment of Truth

Posted on Tuesday, May 22, 2007 at 12:51PM by Registered CommenterJamie Ryan in | Comments5 Comments | References1 Reference | EmailEmail | PrintPrint

Well the time is upon us. We are only a few hours away for what will determine the Celtics future for years to come. This might be the most important night in Celtics history since 1986. This is moment all 12 Celtics fans still out there have been waiting for. It is the moment of truth. It is the NBA Draft Lottery. It is no PINGPONG.gifunderstatement to say the Celtics need to end up with either the first or second pick. If somehow they don't then they are screwed. All of the tanking they did at the end of the season will be for nothing. No matter what Danny Ainge will try and tell people, there is a huge drop off in talent after the first two picks. It is like having your heart set to go on vacation to either Hawaii or the Caribbean and ending up in New Hampshire. Sure New Hampshire is nice but it is no Hawaii and no Caribbean.

pingdraftodendur.jpg

As for the Oden or Durant, Durant or Oden argument, I tend to lean toward the big guy who can come right in and make an impact on the defensive end. With that said I would not be disappointed at all with Durant. The kid has some once in a generation talent. I would put him on the wing, Big Al inside and trade Pierce. Durant will need the ball in his hands and I don't think Pierce will be willing to give it up. No matter what happens it will be interesting to see what happens with Pierce. I think he could be done here in Boston, which would be fine with me but, that is a discussion for another day. Right now all we need to focus on is the Lottery tonight. The Celtics NEED either the first or second pick. It is the Moment of Truth for Danny, Doc and any Celtics fan remaining out there.

Come on Red, we need your help tonight!!!!!

Help Out The Celtics!

Posted on Sunday, May 20, 2007 at 08:27PM by Registered CommenterScott (CEO) in | Comments1 Comment | EmailEmail | PrintPrint

PINGPONG.gifGood ole Tommy Heinsohn will be the Celtics representative in New Jersey for the draft lottery as a good luck charm. He can't do it alone. On Tuesday, be sure to wear something Celtics for the day. It can be a hat, T-shirt, shorts, jersey or even just a shamrock. Show your support throughout the day. Heck, even an old rabbit's foot will do. We need it!

greenrabbitsfoot.jpgHere's a sample of what the Celtics staff will be doing.

- Managing partner Wyc Grousbeck: "I will be wearing green and crossing my fingers. I actually like uncertainty. I'm a venture capitalist, I am a risk-taker, I kind of like not knowing. I am looking forward to it. We are going to make the best of it either way."

- Director of media relations Jeff Twiss: "I have always believed in holding one of Red's cigars. This year, I plan to hold on to, or to wear, one of the lapel buttons with his name on it."

- Executive director of basketball operations Danny Ainge: "I have not been paying attention to all the talk or the focus on it. I have not studied the top two players in the draft other than watching them through the season. I have tapes prepared to watch if we get one or two. ... Maybe that's my superstition. I have people all around me who are obsessed with Oden or Durant. That's all everyone wants to talk about. I simply say: 'It would be nice to have that choice."'

- General manager Chris Wallace: "I have been down in New Jersey for it before and I think I would rather stay here (in Waltham) this year. When I have gone we haven't gained ground, and we haven't lost ground. I tell people that when I went I played good defense. ... There are all sorts of superstitions around the league. The funny thing is that the guy on the stage isn't the one who has to be lucky, it's the guy in the back when they are actually doing the draw. ... One year I had one of Red's smoked cigars Fed-Exed to me. I kept a picture of my son with me. Unfortunately, I was never able to bring home the bacon."

- Radio play-by-play announcer Sean Grande: "I'm probably as superstitious as anyone in the organization, as anyone who's ever seen my pre-game routine would attest. But since my run of playoff luck ended last spring (after going seven straight years as a Celtics and Timberwolves broadcaster), I've decided to flee the scene. So after a couple of weeks of doing media leading up to it, Tuesday night when they make the announcement I'll be where I've spent much of the last 10 years of my life ... at 30,000 feet (on a flight back to Canada)."

Season Finally of the Office

Posted on Sunday, May 20, 2007 at 06:14PM by Registered CommenterKim Wamback in | CommentsPost a Comment | EmailEmail | PrintPrint

Well the Office is over for yet another Season. I was so happy with the way things ended. First of all Pam and Jim my get together. Yes! I have been waiting for this for years. :) We also got a glimpse of what it would be like to have Dwight running the Stranton branch, and Andy as his right hand man. Wow! That was a the_office_pam_and_jim.jpgrecipe for disaster. Thank god Michael did not get the position at corporate. Michael was told he was not going to get the position because he told Jan that it was her position he was interviewing for and they were getting rid of her. Jan got extremely upset and told off her boss. Dunder Miflan claims she has been very unstable in the last two years and it was interfering with work so they were letting her go. She told Michael she was going to move in with him. Michael was not to thrilled with this idea.

Next Season:

1. Will Jim and Pam be a couple?
2. Will Michael and Jan move in with one another?
3. Then again will Michael and Jan be together?

This week there were several things that irritated me. Highlights of my week were spending valuable time watching my son grow and learn new things, seeing Melinda Doolittle get the BOOT from American Idol , and that Tina has songs on her IPod that she has clearly dedicated to me.  So besides that you could say my week was full of irritation. So here goes...

1. If you live in Worcester you can probably relate to this. How come when you drive down Chandler St. in Worcester (if you ever visit Worc) that people feel like they can just walk out into the street and I have to slam on my breaks. These people just walk out from behind cars and do not give a %^*t..... I would recommend avoiding this street all together but since it our major line to many places we have to travel it.

2. Rain.... It has rained for 5 consecutive days and I am going crazy.

3. Because of the rain I did not get to run much this week.

4. I had a dentist appt on Monday and I have had headaches from it all week.

5. All the shows that I love had their season finally this week... I can not watch until summer. What am I going to do with my nights now?

6. I hate driving in Worcester have I mentioned that on weekdays the major road to my street is bumper to bumper traffic especially since it got nice out. What are people leaving work early?

7. I need babysitters.

8. Why is gas so much money!!! Fifty bucks to fill my car.. ARE YOU KIDDING ME! I am going to walk everywhere.

9. Hangovers are not easy to shake anymore. Why is that? Am I old..

10. So I am entertaining the thought of going back to school.....Am I crazy! I think so... Maybe not this semester. We'll see...

Is it time for Florida yet?

Like us Celtics fans don't have enough stress with the upcoming draft lottery on Tuesday night. The Sporting News Magazine (who knew it still existed?) had to bring up bad, bad memories and rub it in with this cover. That's just mean!

CELTSDUNCAN.jpg

How stressed are Celtics fans for Tuesday night? This is a sample from Celticsblog.com forums.

Day-by-day, as the lottery nears, it gets more nerve racking. Each day, I become more anxious. I am literally losing my mind.
Words cannot express how important this day is to me. I still remember the Tim Duncan nightmare. I cried.....Yes... I admit it. I cried like a sissy. I cannot go through that again. My therapist has told me that I should leave the C's alone but I can't. This is the year we come back,

I can't eat. I can't sleep. I've actually lost 15 pounds the past few months. It's the first thing on my mind when I wake up, and last thing on my mind when I sleep.
I almost hit a parked cop car the other day when I was doing mock draft scenarios in my head while driving on 495.
My grades during finals week tanked more than the Celtics did.

Breaking news, Fox promises to "Revitalize Ailing 24".  Well thank God because I was starting to think we were the only people bored with this seasons day.  The president of Fox Peter Liguori, stated that "None of us were satisfied with 24 this season".  He is also promising "a significant change in the show next year that it would make it an even greater highwire act".  Well Halleluiah to that because I think this season is just a wash.  This episode was supposed to be the big pre-cursor to the grand finale but it just left me bored to tears even reading the paper as it went on.  The best part was when Lisa starts beating up the spying boy toy, but even after all that the Russians knew that they had been compromised.  All a big waste of air time if you ask me!  Or how about the part where Nadia takes out the Chinese guards by herself or when Jack saves the nephew/son with one gun when they had a lot of guns!!!  Basically Jack has Josh and he tells him about the conversation with his grandfather and at the same the chinese now have to tell Philip that they no longer have Josh!!  Well Phillip calls the acting president and now wagers with him to get his grandson and a passage out of the U.S.  Doyle grabs Josh and takes him in a helicopter with Jack being subdued trying to get to him.  So now we are at the final "explosive" two hour finale and although I will be watching it, I will be wondering if Hiro saved New York.  Ahhh Thank God for Tivo!!!

I don't have 10 questions/thoughtZ this week for some reason.

Jerry Remy once again couldn't stop laughing during an interview with TC because he had just taken a tumble. Never a dull moment with a Sox broadcast. Great stuff!

Finally Patriots hack Ron Borges will no longer write for the Boston Globe. Borges who recently returned from his two month suspension for plagiarizing made the announcement yesterday. He will pursue new projects in sports journalism, continue writing a book about the NFL and still work as a radio and television commentator.

"I've enjoyed using the forum the Globe has provided me over two decades, but I am excited to step back from the demands of daily sportswriting to try my hand at longer-range projects and other forums," said Borges.

Globe sports editor Joe Sullivan added,

"Ron has made a major contribution to the sports pages of the Globe, His independent voice will be missed."

Just in case the Celtics don't get a top two pick at Tuesday's draft lottery (knocking on wood), the ONLY Yi%20Jianlian.jpgplayer that would slightly ease me pain, would be the very intriguing 7 footer Yi Jianlian. He's been turning heads in workouts since arriving from China two months ago. Here is his ESPN draft report:

Similarities: Toni Kukoc

Notes: Yi's team, the Guangdong Tigers, announced in November 2006 that Yi will be released to enter the 2007 NBA Draft. While he's listed as being born in 1987, many scouts believe that he's actually born in 1984 making him 23 ... not 19. That's a big difference in NBA development terms. Is averaging 24.8 ppg, 11.4 rpg while shooting 57 percent from the field for the Guangdong Tigers this season.

Positives: A long, athletic forward who is very skilled. He has long arms and big hands, which allows him to play even bigger than he actually is. Excellent shooter and ball handler. Fundamentally very sound. Excellent basketball IQ. Has really improved his rebounding. Hard worker.

Negatives: Needs to add strength, especially to his upper body. Needs to play more physically. Needs to work on his post-up game. Not a great shot blocker. More of a face-the-basket type of four.

Summary: Yi is the best international prospect in the draft this year. He has a ton of experience playing in international competitions and at the highest level in China. Given hi
