Celtic Pride: The Superstar and The Legend

Posted on Sunday, May 11, 2008 at 11:03AM by Registered CommenterJosh Hayes in , | Comments1 Comment | EmailEmail | PrintPrint

You may have caught this clip of a sit down conversation between Bill Russell and Kevin Garnett during halftime of last night's game.  For those of you that are unfamiliar with Mr. Russell - he only won 11 NBA titles in 13 seasons as a player and coach.  He is truly a living legend and you can see the amazing level of respect these two men have for each other.

I definitely had goosebumps watching this for the first time last night.  ABC and ESPN are planning to show additional pieces of the conversation as the Celtics continue through the playoffs and I can't wait to see more!

By the way...no disrespect to Ted Williams, but can Bill Russell get a tunnel or bridge or something named after him around here.  We certainly know that decision wasn't based on the number of championships brought to the city!

There is talk all over the radio, TV and internet about if the will be any suspensions for game 5 following last night's skirmish. The following players could be suspended for different reasons, some for as little as one foot on the court. Kendrick Perkins, KG, Sam Cassell, Zaza Pachulia, Marvin Williams. Decide for yourself by watching the video.

My friend Jamie said to me, remember times have changed since these brawls.

Pierce Fined Update: Ainge To Appeal

Greg Dickerson just reported that the "menacing" gesture Pierce made IS NOT A gang symbol, but means blood, sweat & tears. It is a gesture that he does every game during intros. Here's the video.

Relax Rook, Relax

Here is the video of the play that Aaron wrote about last night.

The last thing I want to comment on before I go stew in my anger is Al Horford.  Rookie needs to get slapped up.  If you didn't watch the game, with just around a minute left Pierce was guarding Horford while Atlanta was just running down the clock.  I didn't see how it happened, but Pierce slipped (tripped?) and fell around the 3-point line.  Horford, now wide open, got the ball and knocked down the open jumper.  On his way back down the court, he began pointing and screaming at Pierce, who was rising to his feet.  First off, that should've been a technical, but keeping with their sub-par standards, the Ref's let it go.  However, Pierce got to his feet, a look of absolute anger on his face, and began to follow Horford down the court.  Luckily, our dear friend Brian Scalabrine (decked out in a nice suit tonight) ran down and pulled Pierce back to the Celtics bench.  That was the end of that altercation.

But there are 2 things any Celtics fan knows about Paul Pierce that Horford may not be aware of.  First, the man is crazy.  Second, you don't want to piss him off... but that's exactly what Horford just did.  I absolutely expect Pierce to go off for 40 points on Monday.  Whatever Paul does, we need to take back control of this series, let the Hawks know what Playoff basketball is all about, and get back to playing the brand of basketball that we expect.

Not because of their team, but because their only two fans made the worst music video I've ever seen since William Hung.

Thanks to Celt52034 for the tip. I think?

Here's the Hung video in case you're clueless.

Another Big 3 ESPN This Is Sportscenter Commercial

Tonight was supposed to be the debut of the new commercial, but my friends at Sox & Dawgs said not so fast! They got it first, and here it is followed by the first big 3 commercial from a few months back in case you missed it.

We Have Big Baby, They Have B$#@! Bibby

Posted on Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at 06:45PM by Registered CommenterJosh Hayes in , | CommentsPost a Comment | EmailEmail | PrintPrint

The Quest for 17 continues Wednesday night at 8pm

Is Mike Bibby serious?  He took a direct shot at Celtics fans during an interview at Hawks practice this morning claiming the Boston fans were only loud at the beginning of the game the other night.  He also said they must be bandwagon fans anyway because he didn't see three quarters of them at the Garden last season.

Check out the Celtics reaction to Bibby's comments.

So he's clearly uninformed because the Celtics did very well with attendance last season despite winning only 24 games.  Also, he's apparently a little b$#@!.

If you're going to be at the Garden tomorrow night like I am, please be prepared to have no voice on Thursday morning.  That place needs to be deafening from start to finish during Game 2 and Bibby is going to hear it every time his hands touch the ball.

Oh by the way, if you couldn't get tickets to Games 1 or 2 because they're sold out, you can still get tickets for Games 3 & 4 down in Atlanta if you don't mind the travel.  The Hawks bandwagon must not be in full swing just yet.

Is Mike Tyson Teaching KG?

Posted on Monday, April 21, 2008 at 02:33PM by Registered CommenterScott (CEO) in , | CommentsPost a Comment | EmailEmail | PrintPrint

The play of last nights game was when Leon Powe dunked over 2 hawks and then KG went Mike Tyson on him! Not only did he punch him, he almost bit his ear off (literally). See pics below from the Globe

Here's the video of the dunk from LeonPowe.org

As he lay on the floor, Powe looked up to find the chattering presence of Kevin Garnett in his face. And I mean in his face. Not only that, Garnett was pummeling his teammate with a series of quick hits to the chest. Bam. Bam. Bam. "There were two, three, four, maybe five or six, Roy Jones-type punches," Powe said. "He was excited."

What about it, KG?

"Leon's a grown-ass man," Garnett said. "Those were like high-fives to him. They just happened to be on the chest. I don't think he felt them at all."

Said Powe, "I felt them."

The Celtics Song

Thanks to our good friends at Redsarmy, here is a new Celtics song by Boston rapper Akrobatik that he wrote  for Celtics TV on TV38. It is well written and is actually pretty catchy. Enjoy!

Meet Your 6th Man Award Winner: Ronja?

Posted on Thursday, April 17, 2008 at 10:34AM by Registered CommenterScott (CEO) in , | CommentsPost a Comment | EmailEmail | PrintPrint

Last night Rajon Rondo (not Ronja) won the Celtics 6th man award and let's just say it was a disaster. First, Sullivan tire owner Paul Sullivan who was looking a little messy didn't even know his name. Then, Comcast's Bill Bridged doesn't make much sense. Finally, Tommy just calls him Rondo and starts talking about phone numbers?

CONGRATS RONJA!

Strange Interview With The Big 3

The Big 3 sat down with Steve Burton for an interview, but as you'll see, there are a lot of "looks", but not much talking.

Random Video Time

Every day I have people e-mail me random videos that usually have nothing to do with anything, but are pretty funny. Every now and then I'll show you them here in Random Video Time. Enjoy!

First up is the world's greatest beer pourer.

You probably want to drive in traffic for 2 hours rather than do this madness!

Here's Frank Caliendo impersonating Andy Rooney as he talks about the iPhone. Funny stuff, especially for iphone owners.

This girl learned at an early age about stage presence. Ouch!

For anyone thinking about being a tv reporter. You might want to watch this montage first!
