I think we all hold a little place in our heart for Manny no matter how much of a goof he has been,

Glad he played here, glad he'd gone.

Manny is the best player I have ever seen. It's too bad he left Boston, we didn't deserve him.

Manny is my hero. He is on my fantasy team and I'm not talking about baseball.

Can't root for this d**** for 10 minutes, apllaud him and then bash him when he leaves.

You created the monster.

Don't act like he's just become an ahole this year.

Did you for get about his sitting out the Yankee series in '03, saying "I'll just play for the Yankees, trying to force his way to the Mets in '05...

Geez, he was put on waivers 3 times and the Sox attempted to rade him two times before they actually found a taker.

Keep defending him when he attacks Youkilis (Wow, Pink hat nation really threw him under the bus, huh? Youkilis is selfish?! In a relation to a guy who never runs out groundballs, has never learn to play a position, and had no idea how to run the bases?!), and throws a 68 year old man to the ground.

Keep checking your souls at the gates of Fenway. he didn't become an ahole when he refused to play two games last week.

Breaking down Manny Ramirez's eight seasons in Boston:

The Good

*Hit his 500th career home run May31.

*2004 World Series Most Valuable Player.

*Hit at least .300 in five of seven full seasons with the Red Sox.

*Entered 2008 with the fourth-best slugging percentage and OPS (on-base plus slugging percentage) of Red Sox with at least 3,000 plate appearances.

*Finished third in the 2004 American League MVP voting.

The Bad

*Removed himself from the lineup against the Mariners and Yankees this year, creating a rift with the club over his knee injury.

*Shoved traveling secretary Jack McCormick to the ground because he was upset about his ticket allotment in Houston this year.

*Had an altercation with teammate Kevin Youkilis in the dugout June5.

*Arrived late to spring training in 2007 due to what the team called a "family situation," but he was scheduled to attend a car auction.

*Refused to pinch-hit against the Phillies in 2003; manager Grady Little benched him.

*Socialized with Yankees infielder and friend Enrique Wilson on a day he said he was too sick to play in September 2003.

*Angered Commissioner Bud Selig by not attending the All-Star Game in 2006 because of a knee injury.

The Manny

*Made a running catch on a deep fly to left field in Baltimore this season, then high-fived a Red Sox fan without breaking stride.

*Went into the Green Monster to take a bathroom break during a coach's visit to the mound and narrowly returned in time for the next pitch in July 2005.

*Climbed into the Green Monster to make a call on his cellphone during a pitching change July9.

*Dived to cut off a relay throw in the middle of the outfield, allowing the Orioles' David Newhan to complete an inside-the-park home run July 21, 2004.

*Told ESPNdeportes before Thursday's trade that he should be dealt to Green Bay for Brett Favre.

*Strode to the plate to the tune of Good Times (I Get High) by Styles, played with profanities when he walked to the plate in 2002.

*Lost a $15,000 diamond earring when he slid into third base during an injury rehab stint in 2002.

Manny was like the relatives that come for a visit and stay too long. You can put up with their crap for a while but ultimately they have to go. It's not like people didn't appreciate the things Manny did to help them win 2 world series. It's just that some of us fans won't root for someone who's an a**hole. I guess Jody Rope and Craig Kellog now want to replace Manny with Barry Bonds.

wake up....it's a business. ram was getting old and the %'s of putting up #'s like that in the later years are rare.....he dragged the team down with his antics......bay is much younger and doesn't act up.....theo's job is to put out winning players not entertainers.....ram will make the hall in a gosox uniform so relax.....if the gosox had people like theo in the 70's they might not have lost in '75 and '78......get used to bay, he could be around for a few years and those will be good years.....

Thank you for the temporary donation SOXNATION! We figure Manny's shelf life here in L.A. is about three months, just long enough to get us to the post-season and win more playoff games than we have since '88.
We love you self loathers.

Until this season, I always enjoyed Manny being Manny, both because I got a kick out of him and because I think he has the most natural swing I have ever seen. The Youkilis and McCormick issues made me realize it was time for him to go. He fit in well with the self-proclaimed Idiots of 2004, but no longer is a good fit for the team.

i hope that ahole stays in la i think all he did is waist the red soxs money
August 8, 2008 | Unregistered Commentermannyhater
Have any of you "haters" seen Manny's stats in LA so far? Do you really think AL pitchers will throw to Ortiz like they used to without Manny behind him? The man may be certifiably crazy but he helped the Sox win games. His agent is just a money grubbing pimp who turned a lot of people against Manny.

I had the priviledge of seeing Manny hit his 500th in Baltimore...
he did his stint.,.now it's time TO GO! Boston put up with enough of Manny's antics. I wonder if Joe Torres will put up with as much.
Sure, Manny did what Manny does best; played great ball. But heck, he's been wanting OUT for a very LONG time and he got his wish. Let's see how long he lasts in La-la land!

Could this be the sign of a new curse ? Laughing now but you will definately cry later. Most of you cocky red sox fans feel good about winning a couple of championships around here but in the same breath, you are dissing Manny as if he didnt help us win those. Now fans are just as "classless and arrogant" as Manny. Hypocrites. Now that he is gone expect nothing for a long time. Trading Manny is going to bite the red sox in the butt like Manny going to the Yankees. Reminds me of a sox player from a long time ago. Um. oh yeah babe ruth. Manny wanted out because of fans like you and the BOSTON HERALD. Unloyalty. Manny did his job and didnt commit any crimes like most of these athletes today. Could have been worse......BRING BACK MANNY.

I loved that Manny made me smile; he was laid back and was his own person. Without him, we may not have won the two world series. I will never forget how they wanted to trade Manny and Garciaparra. That left a wound that never healed for both which impacted how Manny worked with the front office and his sense of belonging.

I loved to watch his swing and the ball going high over the Monster wall. I loved the Ortiz/Manny combo that freaked pitchers out. I will miss Manny and will try to keep up with his accomplishments in LA. It will take me awhile to want to see a Red Sox game. I wished that he would get some help for his anger issues; maybe Torres will be more active in getting help for him. I don't value the opinions of the people responsible for being hyper critical from day one; they knock everyone and don't have a life. Get a life cause it is too short.

Manny, so many people loved you and still do. God speed. We will be watching you.
