Celtics Make Offers To Posey & Maggette

Boston.com just reported thatmaggette.jpg

The Celtics have made contract offers to two forwards: Their own free agent, James Posey, and Clippers free agent Corey Maggette, sources told the Boston Globe. The most the Celtics could offer is the mid-level exception (about $5.8 million), and it's doubtful that they could sign both players. The terms of the offers were not disclosed.

The Posey offer isn't surprising, but the Corey Maggette one sure is. Maggette averaged 22.1 points and 5.6 rebounds last season for the Clippers and played for Celtics coach Doc Rivers in Orlando during the 1999-2000 season.

Wicked Pissa Dude!! I am so excited for the C's to bring back Pippy Long Stockings (a.k.a. James Posey) Let's keep him and get ring #2...I want to be the first franchise to get to 20 banners in the NBA. Is that too lofty? Oh come on think positive!!
